About

Hudson’s sculptural installations and interventions combine absurdity with the suggestive potential of materials, in order to interrogate details within systems that have wider implications for society and its power structures. From banana-shaped iron railing finials that posit populist political upheavals such as Brexit as responses to a coercive habitual environment to the mapping of personal and political power hierarchies through stolen hair, Hudson creates playful mythologies of the mundane.

Hudson was a founding member of curatorial collective VERBureau, with whom she exhibited work in ‘Penumbra’ at APT Gallery, London (2014) and co-curated the projects ‘The Gift, If There Is Any’ at Artlicks Weekend (2015), which was shortlisted for the Workweek Prize; ‘Who Owns The Cone?’ at Likky Ruph, Brooklyn, New York (2016) and ‘Pokey Hat’ at New Glasgow Society for Glasgow International (2016), for which she chaired the discussion ‘The Social Histories of Ice Cream and the Urban Environment’.

Her projects as a practitioner and curator have been featured in The Guardian, Frieze Magazine (Instagram), Glasgow City Arts, The Skinny, The Art Newspaper, South London Art Map, Artlyst, Amelia’s Magazine and Aesthetica (blog).
